Things are going well. Kids and Kusi are a wonder. Natural beauty truly of God's hand. As you might expect the team is enriched more than we could ever enrich the mission. God is great! - George Dallas

Friday - 8/13 - 11:30 pm - Exceerpts from Team Emails
Greetings from Peru! I can't believe that it's day three! Our traveling days are past and we are in Kusi. Yesterday we rode the bus for about 11 hours through the most stunning scenes of Creation. We got into Kusi in time for dinner with the boys. The food is amazing! When the boys came into dinner they introduced themselves and we got to talk with some of them while we ate. One boy we met, Juan who goes by Jota, walked up to me after dinner and took my Silly Bands off my wrist to examine them :) He then teased Lauren and me, until an intern told us he is very tickilish. He's a pretty good tickler as well, so he got us back :) Last night in meeting the boys I felt such a joy in this place. I can't wait to spend more time with them, and see the Lord work! - Courtney Melchione
Es Lauren or "Lorena." Peru has been amazing so far and it's only day three! We rode 11 hours by the Pacific and through the Andes yesterday, and the views are incredible! I've never seen anything like it. The boys and the homestay family here are great - so friendly and full of joy. The Lord is moving in so many ways- in my own heart, in our group, and here in Kusi through new friendships and teamwork. I can't wait to get to know our new friends more, know Him more through this experience, and to see the big ways Our Lord will move. Thank you for your prayers! We love you guys and will pray for you! Paz y amor, Lauren Odderstol
Our first work day. We moved stones and small boulders to build up a floor to level. Worked alongside peruvian workers and had a great time. Tonoight will be our first praise time with the boys. We began ouir morning devotions and it was an open and honest for us men. The views of the mountains are breath taking. The sun comes up exactly between the snow peaks of the mountain. We checked all our vbs and kuisi mart supplies and we have everything we need and more. The church's warm heart has mightily prepared us. Thanks!
Thursday - 8/12 - 7:32 am - Excerpts from Email from Robert Rink
We have had a great trip so far. The intern who is serving as our guide is Enestos' daughter. He is the man who started the ministry with the abandoned street boys that we will be working with. He also founded Peru's first and only school for the deaf. We visited the school and it was great. They have 85 students. We observed several classes. They teach them sign language and complement their school work. We were told that not until 1993 were deaf people classified as human beings in Peru. Until then they could not marry nor had any other basic human rights. The parents in the country are working to extend care for their children. The teachers were very visual in their teaching. The students attend for 10 dollars a month. Each teacher can take 15 students. For 150 a month an entire class can be provided. They have a waiting list. Plus they are bursting out of their rented building. 2 classes are held on the flat roof.
We will be traveling by public bus today. We are leaving at 8 am and hopefully 8 hours later we will be in Kusi, our destination for the week.
Wednesday - 10:00 am - First Leg Completed
We have confirmation that they have arrived in El Salvador, completing the first leg of their journey to Peru.
Wednesday - 1 am - The Team meets up at Dulles in DC
Due to a technical snafu with the airline, the team decided to get to Dulles a bit earlier for check-in. Good thing! They had some luggage to adjust getting 2 guitars to get down - but that was no problem for the Marines present. All boarded safely and off to Peru!
